Micaela’s move; overcoming mental health obstacles to find employment

Micaela struggled with her mental health when she could not find a job. Two years ago, she was unemployed and struggling with anxiety and depression. "I felt a great deal of pressure to find work and to deal with other personal issues," she says. "Not having the security of a job and having financial independence was very stressful. It was like I hit the ground."

When Micaela moved to Sydney with her two dogs in search of work, we supported her together with Drake International, to help them relocate and provide her further training. The 20-year-old Aboriginal Australian says she is now "in a much better place."

She now works as a government employee at a logistics company with responsibilities from data entry to compliance. "Looking back, the move was not easy, but with the help, I've found a new job and a new life," she says. "I'm so happy where I am and I feel supported."
